Editor's Review:

With a wide range of devices and a solid 24 hour monitoring service available, LifeFone's Medical Alert System offers a comprehensive medical alert package.

There are two main packages to choose from here, each with three payment options. The basic package offers round-the-clock support in the case of a medical emergency, whereby you will be contacted to check you are okay, and the emergency services will be sent over if necessary. You contact the control centre using a range of portable devices and you can also purchase additional help buttons or security boxes for a fair fee. For around $10 more per month you can upgrade to the cellular option (3G Cellular System) which allows you to use the devices without needing a land line in the home. If you don't have a land line and don't want to purchase one then this option is a great idea. However, it does include an activation fee of $39, so make sure you take that into account when working out your budget.

The range of equipment is impressive here, but more could be done to make some of the devices more attractive. That said, the mobile devices (a wristband and a necklace) are designed to fit under your clothing without really being noticed, so they shouldn't draw too much attention. Finding out about the devices is easy enough on the website, although a little more information on each one would be useful. Customer Services can be contacted via telephone or email, and you can also download instruction forms. You can also request information using an online form, but a more comprehensive, searchable FAQ would be welcomed, as would a live chat feature. Those things considered, there is a useful blog to read, which includes posts on information such as how to remain active, scams that you should avoid and how to make the most of their services and devices.

LifeFone.com's positive reputation might be a good reason to head to them. They've been in business since 1976 and are A+ rated by the Better Business Bureau. As well as this, they employ US-based workers and have been recommended by a number of health care providers for over three decades. They're also recognised by a number of health and age associations. All of this adds up to a fairly reliable back catalogue of clients and supporters, suggesting that they're doing something right. They also provide a 30 day money back guarantee, should you be dissatisfied with the service.

In terms of price, Life Fone is about average for this industry. However, their range of products, and their history of providing great service means that you get a superior product for your buck, so they offer excellent value for money. With a range of price options and packages available, they ought to have something to offer you that's within your budget and that suits your needs. Why not check out their site and maybe give them a call to see what they can do?
